How much do you charge?

Brand Consulting is £190/hr but if booked per day, a discounted rate of 7 hours for the cost of 6 hours applies.

Innovation Consulting is £245/hr but if booked per day, a discounted rate of 7 hours for the price of 6 hours applies. Innovation consulting is slightly costlier than brand work because of the inherent value of intellectual property, which transfers fully to the brand under contract.

Do you have a special fee for startups?

Fees are set, however, each brand and situation is different so there still may be creative ways to work together. Use the form on this page or our number below to get in touch and tell us what’s on your mind.

Do you have flat fees for projects?

A flat fee can be negotiated depending on the project, the time estimated, and the expected deliverables. Clients tend to opt for daily rates.

Where are you based? Can we do this over Zoom?

While we are based in London, thanks to the recent world-wide evolution in comfort levels with Zoom, MS Teams, and Google Meet, much of our work can be done remotely, regardless of times zones. When in-person interaction is preferred or necessary, travel can be arranged.

How long does it take to build or fix a brand?

It all depends on how much there is to fix. Building the basics of a brand can be relatively quick (1-3 days) if your vision is already relatively clear. However, this process can take up to 2 months or more, depending on the detail required, the size and complexity of the brand and its offering, and whether you’d like a physical “Brand Bible” to be designed for your team.

What categories of beauty or kinds of formula do you specialize in?

We have 20 years of development experience across multiple categories of beauty, personal care, and consumer goods, including but not limited to: color cosmetics, skin care, body care, hair care, fine fragrance, OTC products, sanitizers & disinfectants, sun care and self-tan, personal hygiene, gift sets and tools.

We also have extensive experience in scent development with synthetic, nature identical, and pure essential oil materials across all formulation types. Other areas of expertise include formulating for CLEAN beauty, vegan, cruelty-free, and green and sustainability claims.

What is innovation and R&D consulting?

From the creation of the idea to proof of concept (i.e., protype), services can include but are not limited to:

  • Identification and due diligence on white space opportunities specific to your brand

  • Ideation of unique product ideas, from positioning and story to formula and packaging

  • All research and resourcing to ensure the creative brief is achievable, including the discovery and procurement of rare and innovative ingredients

  • Resourcing and liaising with the appropriate packaging partners for stock or custom components

  • Finding the most appropriate chemists or CMs for the project

  • Work in tandem with chemists to troubleshoot and achieve creative brief objectives; proven to be a very effective dynamic

  • Scent development directly with chosen fragrance house, which is usually in parallel with formula development

  • Collaborate with the creative team or consultants to ensure creative and packaging aligns with the brief and is designed with formula in mind

  • Preliminary advice on potential intellectual property issues (e.g., in the process of naming, etc.)

  • Work with marketing and PR to ensure communications effectively convey innovation and POD

Where do you get your new ideas and innovation from?

The BNB process starts with an intimate connection to the power of your brand. Then, we apply extensive knowledge of macro trends, cultural realities, consumer needs and desires, and white space opportunities, for the clouds to part and lightning to strike.

Do you keep all information confidential? How do I know my intellectual property and trade secrets are protected?

We understand the importance of confidentiality and trust in every relationship. We will begin our relationship with an NDA in place and an understanding that we have confidential relationship from the start. If your brand is at all in conflict with any brand we currently consult for, we will not take your project. Confidentiality and trust is imperative not just for moral and legal reasons, but also for practical ones.

I think using a brand or innovations consultant will offend my team. What do you suggest?

While it can be tricky to bring consultants in on creative projects, our empathetic and sensitive approach to a brand, its founders, and its teams has proven valuable and effective. Injecting the team with fresh ideas and encouraging a positive collaborative effort with active listening and an empathetic approach has, in many past projects, proven to reinvigorate and neutralize even the most politically delicate situations.
